November 8, 2014 Coordinating Committee Meeting

Good Friends of NPYM Coordinating Committee,

While the afternoons remain warm and sunny the coolness of the early morning hours signals the beginning of our fall season. The fact that tomorrow Tacoma Friends Meeting restarts it’s monthly Meeting for Worship for Business reminds me that it’s time to shake off Summer’s laziness and begin considering our Fall Gathering at Multnomah Monthly Meeting.

At our gathering during Annual Session at Pacific University we picked Saturday November 8 as the day that seemed most appropriate. I’ve arranged to use the Meeting Room upstairs at Multnomah from 9:00am to 6:00pm for Coordinating Committee use. The Meeting House will be open at 8:00 for early arrivals and fellowship with coffee, tea and some breakfast items in the social hall before the meeting starts. Simple lunch will also be provided in the social hall during our afternoon meal break.

Carol Uhte has left for her trip to Europe so Laura Arcidiacono has stepped in temporarily as hospitality coordinator. Laura's contact information has been sent to CC members and Committee clerks by e-mail.

Carol will return around November 1 and can be contacted after then but if you haven't made arrangements and need to please contact Laura.

Our work, as usual, is to maintain the pulse of North Pacific Yearly Meeting. We will be checking in with Standing Committees to see how they are fairing. We will also be greeting some new officers, as Otis Kenny will be joining us as Associate Coordinating Committee Clerk and Jonathan Brown as Treasurer.

In addition to the “usual” work we will be considering how to take up the ideas and recommendations of two Ad Hoc Committees – Communications & Family Affordability – whose work we have been asked to carry forward with whatever implementation steps we consider wise. I am beginning the work of planning an agenda and will post any committee reports coming my way to the Coordinating Committee page of the NPYM website so check there periodically please.

By November some rain and cold, gloomy days will undoubtedly have visited us. I look forward to being warmed by your smiles and fellowship as we gather again to do the Yearly Meeting’s business.
