Materials and last minute information for North Pacific Yearly Meeting

The spirit of worship is essential to that type of business meeting in which the group endeavors to act as a unit…To discover what we really want as compared with what at first we think we want, we must go below the surface of self-centered desires…To will what God wills is… to will what we ourselves really want.--Howard Brinton

Greetings Friends—

Thank you for registering for North Pacific Yearly Meeting Annual Session. I look forward to seeing you at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington, July 15-19 for fellowship, worship, and Spiritual renewal.

One of the functions of the Annual Session is to conduct the business of North Pacific Yearly Meeting. We will gather together each morning to worshipfully consider the good work that our standing committees have done over the year, and to act on any recommendations brought before us. To be well prepared for our tasks, please review the agenda and accompanying reports on the NPYM web site Plenary Session page:

Links to various reports, including the budget and nominations slate, can be found at the bottom of the page.

As you are preparing to come to Spokane, here are three last-minute items from our Annual Session Planning Committee:

1. We are sorry to announce that the interest group entitled, “Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement to End Israel Occupation of Palestine”, IG-11 scheduled for Friday, has been cancelled due to the facilitator being unable to attend annual session. We are adding the following interest group in its place:

IG-11, Friday, 3:30 p.m. Annual Session Costs Information and Brainstorming Session

The cost for adults to attend NPYM Annual Session rose significantly this year. Members of the Annual Session Planning Committee and the Site Committee will explain what led to the increase and then open up discussion for brainstorming how NPYM can meet the challenge of keeping annual session affordable and accessible. At this session we will also detail how the financial assistance process works and brainstorm how to let Friends know that this resource exists.

Facilitators: Tom Rawson, Margaret Coahran, John Etter

2.) Don’t forget to bring a sleeping bag or linens if you did not select the linens option in your registration. Also, you might want to bring a fan as the dorm rooms are not air conditioned.

3.) Several people have expressed interest in sharing rides to Annual Session this year. To that end, the webkeeper created a ride share board for you online. This is the link, if you'd like to arrive at AS with a little extra good company ;). Happy riding!

Many thanks, Friends, for your careful and prayerful preparation for our NPYM plenary sessions. I am excited about our time together in Spokane.
