Junior Friend Epistle 2015

Dear Friends Everywhere,

One common thread of discussion amongst the Junior Friends this year was how to better integrate ourselves among the other generations in the meeting. We hosted a youth-led plenary, attended worship sharing, volunteered with the Children’s program, and spent time with the Young Adult Friends. We came to realize how much the greater meeting appreciates our involvement, and feel much more comfortable expressing our opinions within NPYM. Many of us have made new connections with Friends younger and older.

In our business meeting this year, we made the important decision to have our next Service Trip in the summer of 2016. We will be travelling to Guatemala once again to work with Progresa. We feel very supported by the meeting in this decision, and are excited to further our connections in Guatemala.

We met with the Friend in Residence, Robin Mohr, to have conversations about “What we mean when we talk about God.” We discussed our views of God, and the different words we use for God. Robin also shared her experience with Friends World Committee for Consultation, giving us new insight into the complex world of convergent and international Quakerism.

We deeply appreciate the meeting for supporting us in our continued growth, and are excited for the years to come with NPYM.

Forever Young,

The NPYM Junior Friends
